Volunteers go above and beyond
"Our steadfast, committed volunteers often go unnoticed. They perform tasks that others may turn away from. These volunteers go above and beyond the call and do so without drawing attention or complaint.
Two such volunteers recently brought me to the brink of tears. As I walked through the warehouse, I witnessed Steve and Jim washing eggs. It turns out that a large number of purchased eggs had been smashed during transport. Upon arriving to their shift the aroma was that of, well you guessed it, rotten eggs in the cooler. Rather than throwing them all away, they painstakingly went through dozens and dozens of eggs saving those possible, washing them carefully, and repackaging them into new egg cartons, so that those who come to MOM can have this versatile protein packed food.
