Volunteering Through the Years: Judy Valasky
We are so grateful for the volunteers who have made our work at MOM possible for 40 years. To celebrate MOM's 40th anniversary, we're sharing a few stories from some of our most dedicated long-time volunteers. Here are some of Judy Valasky's memories of volunteering at MOM:
I’ve been volunteering at MOM almost every Friday morning for twelve years. I was searching for a place to volunteer where I felt there was a strong need. I tried several places but nothing seemed to fit my expectations. During a Lenten service at our church, a woman from MOM told us about Middleton Outreach Ministry. I called the next day and here I am!
I started in the old building as a client host. I loved meeting so many wonderful and grateful people. At that time, client hosts did the stocking of shelves which was becoming difficult for me so I trained as a front desk volunteer in the Distribution Center and that is where I’m still sitting.
I love the people, clients, staff and other volunteers. I’ve seen executive directors, pantry managers, and other volunteers pass through the doors. Each one has brought something special to MOM. I have developed meaningful friendships with people who have brought something special to my life.
Thank you to the hundreds of people who have made my Friday mornings something I look forward to each week!
