Saying Goodbye to Joan McGovern
After nine years of dedicated work for MOM and our community, Joan McGovern resigned as Volunteer Program Manager. During those nine years, volunteers have always played an important role at MOM. Joan has been there, helping the volunteer program to grow, adapt, and meet the needs of MOM and the community. Joan has seen a lot of changes at MOM during her time here. When she started working at MOM, the Main Office was still in an old building on Hubbard Avenue. Operations were split between two locations, with some volunteers there and many others in the Distribution Center a few miles away. The next year, MOM moved into our current and much larger facility where everyone could be in one space together. With the larger facility, the volunteer program expanded greatly, adding many more volunteers and expanding volunteer roles. Joan has put her heart into her work with volunteers, making sure MOM recruited, trained and thanked volunteers appropriately, as well as managed the details of tracking and communicating with our incredible volunteer force. “MOM will always be a special place to me, and I will miss all the volunteers,” Joan said, “They have meant so much to me over the years.” Joan will be greatly missed but we wish her well in whatever the future holds for her.
