ReMitts benefit MOM
Warm, wool mittens with all proceeds going to local food pantries will be available for purchase this year, despite some pandemic-related challenges.
Buy your ReMitts at MOM through Monday, November 30! Drive-by the MOM Food Pantry and look at our window display to pick out your pair. Directions on how to pay and pick-up your mittens can be found in the window.
ReMitts is a volunteer group that sews felted mittens made from discarded wool sweaters. Since 2009, the group has raised more than $444,000 for three local food pantries, including Middleton Outreach Ministry (MOM), The River and St. Vincent de Paul.
“We’re hoping to raise $56,000 this year, even though our workshop was closed for several months due to the novel coronavirus,” said Janet Tupy, the group’s founder. “With $56,000, we’ll surpass half a million dollars in contributions since our founding.”
Several group members sewed masks this year, raising nearly $9,000 for food pantries and giving the group a head start on its goal. In addition to mittens, ReMitts will have felted dryer balls available at select locations this year. The dryer balls, used in place of dryer sheets, are made from wool left over from mitten making.
ReMitts mittens will be available in November and December throughout our community
