MOM Hires New Community Outreach and Advocacy Case Manager
We're excited to announce Sitha Ok has been hired as our Community Outreach and Advocacy Case Manager. This is a new position for MOM, created based on requests from community partners to help bridge gaps in services they were seeing for clients at their locations. Sitha will be based primarily in the community and will work to get households connected to MOM services, as well as make referrals to other partner agencies.
Sitha graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Sociology. At the same time, he also obtained his Social Worker Certificate. Sitha was born in Northampton, MA, and lived in various parts of Massachusetts. He worked in the culinary arts industry before finding social work as a passion. He realized that people form a special bond with the dishes they shared and cooked. Sitha loved sharing his Cambodian/Vietnamese cuisine with others and realized that everyone connected through food.
Sitha worked directly with the homeless population advocating and providing outreach in Springfield, MA, for the Center for Human Development (CHD). Through his career at CHD, he helped over a dozen homeless clients find permanent housing and assisted many clients with their mental health and substance abuse issues. Sitha is excited to be joining the team at MOM and believes that forming a strong bond within the community is the key to success.
