Preventing Homelessness, Ending Hunger
Nearly 700 backpacks were distributed during the 2011 program.
While children are busy playing outside and reveling in days without school, parents are already beginning to think about getting the supplies their children will need in just weeks when school begins.
Each year, MOM runs a School Supply Program that provides school-aged children and teens with items that they will need to be successful in the upcoming year. Through the dedicated efforts of donors who supply the items and volunteers who assemble the packs, over 600 children will receive a backpack filled with a robust collection of the supplies they need, customized by the grade in which they are entering.
The School Supply Program is yet another way that MOM is working to keep families in stable housing, supplying them with the assistance they need to free up financial resources to pay for rent. The program also supplies relief to families worried about the extra expense, and joy to children as they prepare for a great year ahead.
